Happy New Year! I'm actually surprised I haven't blogged about turmeric yet. But I took a bunch of good photos so here we go! I've been actively using turmeric in my routine since April and I love it. I never liked the smell or taste until then. So today i want to talk about the 2-1 brightening and exfoliating mask from KORA Organics. New brand to me but loving it! I bought this and this duo from Sephora (they no longer sell it as a duo!) and have been enjoying both products for a few months The mask is full of fine granules that work to gently break down crap on the surface of your skin. You know when you feel greasy but cant explain it? You're probably covered in dead skin, that is causing your pores to clog and feel congested. Let's just make a fun list of what .... Exfoliating Does: 1. polishes skin 2. promotes skin renewal 3. removes dead cells 4. blurs pigmentation 5. unclogs pores and prevents acne 6. makes makeup look better The key ingredients in this mask are:turmeric - brightens and revives (try an at-home turmeric mask for proof) papaya enzymes - help break down keratin protein particles into smaller pieces so they can bond together and create a stronger dermis (top layer of skin that would be affected by weather, frowning etc.) aspen bark - natural preservative, conditions peppermint - cools and soothes irritation that may arise from the rubbing of the... rosehip seeds - loaded with vitamins A & C and a safe alternative to chemicals exfoliants Removal:I prefer to remove textures masks like these with a cloth. This bamboo/cotton blend one is from Westbarn Co. (great company). It helps to rub them around a bit without numbing your fingers and the cloth removes the seeds thoroughly than continuous water splashing. The redness will go away in 10 minutes and then you will be smooth as a baby! Let me know if you've tried this mask, or another turmeric mask. I'm curious! I live in a big city and I work right in the heart of it; my skin sees enough pollutants. It's time to load my pores with clean natural ingredients.
Hey guys! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas break and that you all got the skincare of your dreams! Special mention: Overall Brand - Shiseido, currently loving their serums and eye cream! I’m so interested to know what everyone else’s stand out products were this year! Let me know in the comments.
its true! I always wanted to try this and I finally did it. There was a giant hiccup which i handle gracefully eventually, but this felt so rewarding to make something for ME, so expect lots more videos and please comment and subscribe. (that's going to get annoying fast, sorry if we hang out irl) Here are some of the things I’ve been using to ease into this weather! Cold weather sucks for killing your skin so that mean a lot of exfoliating ( but gently) so today I used the 2-step peeling solution from drJart which isn’t as aggressive as it sounds. You put these pop rocks all over your face then wear a sheet mask and they supposedly “pop” but I didn’t experience that. I did have soft skin after though. [This mask came in the 7-day of masking pack.] With collagen production, you need to penetrate pretty deep into the skin to get it to “wake up” so for that I use a Derma-roller. It can hurt a bit at first but you get used to it. So when you’re done washing your face and applying toner (my go to right now is the Philosophy Purity Micellar cleansing water which keeps my skin hydrated and clear from breaking out -love!! And gifted so thanks!!!) anyways...post toner, I roll. This wakes up the lower layers of skin and doesn’t cause bleeding. It creates blood flow however which, when followed by applying collagen will grab it into the blood flow and then it will “boost” your collagen production. Collagen cells are like mimes, they need to see an example of what they’re supposed to be doing lol. Roll a few times - not too aggressively - all over your face except for eyes. Follow by applying Neostrata revive collagen booster, it glides on and absorbs quickly. It keeps skin looking plump and healthy and I think this works with the roller well! My boyfriend does too. Next I’m really into the Peter Thomas Roth skin to die for eye primer. This is a tinted eye primer that is used under concealer or foundation. It’s pinkish and the texture is thick. I’m liking it so far. As always I finish with a makeup look. Lately I've found myself straying away from my old faves for some new options...The Ouai Leave in Conditioner: This is so fragrant, beware! I wouldnt repurchase this because I dont like the overpowering smell, but if you want your hair to smell all day this is THE ONE. I always wanted my hair to have a fragrance but this isnt it. I dont find my hair particularly hydrated throughout the day when i use this, but i want to give it a proper chance. I need a leave in conditioner daily, so this is the one i brought on holiday to test if i wanted the full-size. I will still use it but dont recommend it over other leave-in conditioners. IGK Hair Styling Primer: Love this to keep my hair safe before heat styling, I dont find it heavy or greasy and its a good alternative for a hair spray or texturizer if that's not the look you're going for that day. I need to use molds or gels to keep a curl so my hair always likes an extra layer. Doesn't 'crunch' the ends after sleeping too! Dry Shampoo: This is the first time i'm even mentioning a dry shampoo in my beauty life, but i finally found one i love. I have to admit i was first drawn in by the scent, its so nice and light but not soapy or flowery like most DS I've come across, ex. the Ouai one I actually need to leave the room after praying it. I need to spritz this on my roots occasionally and I let it sti for a minute before i work it in with my fingers until the chalkiness is blended with my grease(ew but true!) Briogeo: Rosarco Shampoo and Conditioner I dont need a repairing shampoo on the daily, but i did have very damaged ends during my last vacation, so i brougt this set along with me. I like this, but I dont know how much better 'high-end' shampoos are yet. Other than being free of a lot of chemicals, i did find this combo to leave my hair very silky, even in the humidity of St Martin. I also had some scalp damage, ie. I left my hair is sopping wet ocean-water-filled bun overnight and developed some type of seborrheic eczema on my head which went away after 1 or 2 uses. I am still using this now in the cold and its still good. The conditioner is nice and thick and the shampoo is thin and oily. At-Home-Maintenance: **This isn't for everyone, and i don't recommend trying this for the first time if you aren't well coordinated or an artist**. -I’ve deleted this tip because I don’t recommend diy haircuts. I’m just weird. - At the end of my haircrafts i'll finish with a macadamia oil mask and sleep with a turban on it overnight. Difeel Macadamia Oil: Before anyone tells me 'kitchen products don't belong on the body' stop and read the label, because this oil is not or cooking. I have mentioned the beauty of this nut before and I will link the post here. But after a fresh chop, saturating the ends in this oil will really let it soak in the nutrients until the next haircut. I also bring it up the whole lengths, and in this week's case, the scalp!! I had a lot of sun and elements pass through my hair over the last little while so a thorough scalp nurturing mask was necessary. My hair feels amazing after this treatment and macadamia oil is so accessible and affordable. Thanks for getting this far! And remember, this is just current daily routine stuff.
I'll be doing my 2019 roundup of stellar products worth investing in very soon! Hi! In this post I feature some Philosophy products from their Hope range and then some simple makeup! Renewed Hope in a Jar - Peeling Mousse instant glow Facial Mask - LONG NAME! but super quick usage process and stellar results. I actually could not believe what was in my hands/on my face after having used this peeling mask. So basically you smooth it over your face and start to work it in in circular motions, you'll notice the texture begin to thicken.. this is dirt and dead skin building up in the mask! Its pretty nasty, but if you love seeing results instantly then this is for you. The mask peels off dirt and debris leaving skin smooth and glowing, improving radiance and impurities beneath surface layers. Active Ingredients in this mask are: Cornflower Extract, Witch Hazel Water and Pineapple Fruit Extract. If you pay attention to my stories, I recently featured another product with Fruit Extract aka Acids; it was a Herbivore Glow oil and I have been finding fruit acids to be incredible non-irritating chemical exfoliates! Renewing Dew Facial Serum* This watery serum claims to cause bright, smoother and more hydrated skin. Leading to younger looking skin and less signs of aging. Most of its power is derived through its active ingredients. Here is a breakdown... Peptides are combinations of amino acids that come together in different formations to form fragments of protein that work differently on skin’s surface. What is protein? Proteins are necessary pieces of the skins makeup that allows it to have elasticity. Collagen is important on staying looking youthful, our middle skin layer (dermis) is composed of 80% collagen and we stop producing more and more as we age, so adding a peptide cream with collagen is good idea to bring to your skincare routine. Note: Collagen molecules on their own are too large to penetrate pores so when broken down further into peptides the skin responds differently and is aware of it’s lack of collagen and may boost its natural production! Active Ingredients: Aloe Vera, Vitamin C & E, Peptides, Asian Fruit Extracts, Jasmin Extract *I was gifted this for attending boobyball - a RethinkBreastCancer Foundation event Clean hydrated skin is so nice to apply makeup to. It glides on perfectly smooth and doesn’t cake from dry or dead skin. As usual, I end my post with some GLAM! |
